This composition was kick-started by the discovery of a new ingredient, a special fractional distillation of verbena oil that isolates its spicy and woody facets. Along with verbena, the perfumer summoned another olfactive symbol of Provence, the fig tree, to compose a crisp, fresh, natural yet elegant scent. The fig leaf and wood accord, infused with the lemony freshness of verbena, is enhanced by the spicy facets of liquorish and the woodiness of Texas cedar. In the base notes, benzoin and oak moss subtly conjure the illusion of a stylized fougére accord.
